The LSM 510 META consistently retains the multiple pinhole concept pioneered in the LSM 510 and extends it to the META detector. Identical to the other detectors, the META detector has its own, motor-driven confocal pinhole, conveniently controlled through the LSM software.
Naturally, you can adjust the position and diameter of this pinhole to suit the detection band required. This guarantees, on the one hand, that the light emitted or reflected by the specimen is captured as completely as possible. On the other hand, with the simultaneous use of the various detectors, the fluorescence signals of a multi-labeled specimen are collected from exactly the same plane. This capability is fundamental to evidential findings in 3D colocalization experiments with optimum signal-to-noise ratio.
